Twitter: How to tweet?

Lots of people have different opinions on twitter, but nothing can change the fact that it's very popular and is used worldwide. However one problem I have with twitter is knowing what to tweet and why people would want to read my tweets?

'Why does the world need this, exactly? It's not as if we were all sitting around four years ago scratching our heads saying, "if only there were technology that would allow me to send a message to my 50 friends, alerting them in real time about my choice of breakfast cereal".' - Extract from the TIME magazine article How Twitter Will Change the Way We Live.

One main reason for people to start tweeting is so they can interact with their famous idols in hope that they will notice them. That's when the problems start, what is the probability that this person will even see your tweet if millions of people like you are also tweeting them at the same time? It's highly unlikely that they will even reply to you.

So why do people tweet? Why was twitter set up in the first place? How does this social networking site benefit our lives in any way? For some people it's a way of releasing their emotions, for others it produces a form of free advertisement, a way for them to get noticed. Twitter could in some way help boost a business and help attract customers from all around the world. Twitter can actually benefit us in lots of ways in the jobs market. However, I still fail to see how it affects people on a day to day bases to know what I am currently doing?

The simple answer to this question is that it doesn't make a big difference to anyone's life. It is simply a form on social entertainment. It allows people to communicate and makes friends all across the world who have similar interests as them. So going back to the question, how to tweet? And what to tweet, the answer to that question is far too big to give one simple answer. Depending on what you use your twitter account for, you can tweet anything you want to tweet about, whether it's advertising your new music single or clothing brand. Or even just saying that you had for breakfast this morning. The number of things you could tweet is unlimited and is completely up to you.

Here are some interesting facts from the article '20 illuminating facts about Twitter: 2012 edition' from the website PR Daily.
1. There are 100 million active Twitter users.
2. 50% of these 100 million users log in every day.
3. 40% of twitter users don't actually tweet; instead, they read news, click links and follow accounts.
4. 15% of adults on the internet used Twitter in February 2012.
5. Twitter has 500 million registered profiles; 100 million are from the U.S.

So what do you tweet about?

Camping, something for everyone right?

You always try to imagine what the worse thing that could happen to you when camping don't you? Well unfortunately when I imagined what might go wrong, I didn't know what I thought would actually happen to me and my friends...in the middle of nowhere...and that's not the worse part.

We decided to go on a nice camping trip in Wales in what scientists call 'summer'. I think it should be called the rainy season considering how much ran we get in this stupid country. Why we ever thought going camping in Wales was a good idea I will never know. We had just arrived at the Campsite around early evening, and we discovered the website which advertised this place had ever so slightly given it's 'beauty' if you can call it that, too much credit. This was the start of how our holiday became a 'hellody'.

We set up our tents all nice and everything was going fine up until we decided to go make dinner. That was when we realised our cooker did not work and we had brought lots of meat with us that needed to be cooked that evening. Clever idea wasn't it? This lead to us fighting for the next 20 or so minuets (I couldn't really remember, I tried forgetting about this experience after it happened to be honest). In the end we decided to go to the camp site owners house across the street and ask if we could borrow a disposable bbq or something. He allowed us to use his cooker luckily (although he was staring at us awfully strangely the whole time we were in his kitchen) we thanked him and went back to our tents to eat dinner...well what was left of our tents actually...

When we got back we discovered that the wind was so strong some of our pegs came out of their holes and down our tent went. You can imagine what that had done to our moods. Again we started arguing with each other about who didn't make sure the pegs were in properly. By this point I think we all secretly were plotting each others deaths...but that's another story to tell later on. About an hour of us of fighting had gone by and we ended up with cold food, a tent that was half up and half down and 3 angry and confused girls in the middle of the welsh countryside.

In the end we got our tents back up and ate our cold (and very disgusting) food and went to bed. The next morning you would not be surprised to hear that we went home as soon as we could (still very angry and plotting each others deaths) and never again went camping in Wales!

Astrange thoughts - Geoffrey's Monologue

(Late at night, Sat outside the village Church on a weak wooden bench with this hands in his head)

Oh how long it's been, since I've seen a real smile on my dearest Susan's face. I haven't seen her have any fun in years it must be now. She doesn't seem to find the same kind of happiness in Christ which I have found and cherished all these years. Yet she still comes to Church like a good girl, it's not even like i've forced her. She comes out of her own free will...even if she looks drained every time she comes. I guess as a vicars wife she has some sort of obligation to come and see me work in the name of God. I don't see why she doesn't share my enthusiasm with the church, to me it's mind boggling.

(Stands up and starts walking around the Church garden)

Personally I don't see what she's got to complain about, I offer to be affectionate towards her and fulfil her needs as a woman... there's nothing I can do if she rejects my gestures...I try and get her out of the house but she always has a reason not to go out with me, leading me into making up excuses to our friends why she, yet again has no shown up. The embarrassment that woman causes me is too much sometimes, I do wonder why I even bother! It's not like she bothers trying to fulfil my needs as a man...

I do miss her, the way we use to be together. I want her back, to take away the sadness the alcohol fills her with. That's not too much to ask is it? She is my wife after all, I want her to be happy with me, not anyone else but me. (sniffs) Anyway I shouldn't complain really, I'm lucky to have her as a wife if nothing else. At least I have God on my side forever to help me help her. (looks to the sky)

Then again, why is she unhappy? I give her everything. I'm the best husband she could get! I'm good looking, charming, peaceful, faithful, I give her everything she could ever need. I gave her a house, lovely kitchen, I even give her the opportunity to make friends with women from the Church. Lots of women would love to be married to me, I'm the vicar, who doesn't adore me? I'm the catch of the village I've even been told by a few youngesters! If she wants to complain, let her complain. let's face it, she can't get much better than me even if she tried. (sits back down on bench and puts feet up on a stone looking relaxed) I've got nothing to worry about, whatever happens I'm going to be okay, she won't have the guts to leave an amazing man like me.

A memory from the past

A memory from the past

I remember my first day of secondary school extremely well. I had been looking forward to it all summer but when it came down to the actual day, I was scared to the bone. When you’re younger, it seems so easy to make friends, you just play with each other in the playground and you have a new friend. Whereas when you go to secondary school you’re more cautious. You want to make a good first impression and seem cool at the same time, I mean who wants to get picked on? Everyone wants to fit into this new school and make new friends.

I still remember sitting down in the hall, looking around and seeing so many new people. I had been so use to the small environment of primary school where there was only 75 people in my year, and we were the biggest year at school. So coming to secondary school was a big change. Only 14 people from my primary school came with me to that school and I wasn't exactly friends with most of them. My friends all went to the other all-girls school in Bath whereas I and 2 of my other friends went to the one I was sat in, looking around trying to find some courage in me to talk to one of them. For the rest of the morning, I had not found that courage, luckily this one girl in my tutor had. We were put next to each other and she started talking to me. She turned out to be one of my best friends for those 5 years I was at that school for. That day had seemed so scary at times in the summer, but on the day.

When you see all these movies about what high school is like, you start to think that is what secondary school is going to be like. Everyone in their separate groups for example, the popular people. However the reality isn't like that, everyone was really nice I remember thinking on the first day. Even though through the years many of my opinions on people changed but on the first day, I felt like the next 5 years were going to be good and I was going to be happy there.
